💸 Price: from 90 zł

A historical stand-up performance by Vladimir Raevsky will take place in Warsaw.

October 18 at 20:00 at the WAM Theatre.

Journalist and presenter Vladimir Raevsky will conduct a historical stand-up comedy show.
This is a genre he invented, in which a lecture turns into a stand-up comedy, but the reason for the jokes is not dates and scattered socks, but letters from Ivan the Terrible to the English Queen, Brezhnev's diaries and the Time of Troubles. At the same time, Vladimir does not retell historical myths and jokes, he uses only documentary sources: letters, diaries, decrees and chronicles. But even in them there is a huge amount of humor, and the main punches belong to the tsars, tyrants and general secretaries themselves.

Is it even possible to laugh at your own history? The author answers:

“I often talk about history and culture on my Instagram, make films, and also travel with lectures. And recently I decided that just lectures are already a thing, so I came up with a new genre - historical stand-up.”

Why?

I have always been sure that the history of Russia, if you think about it, is not only tragedy and horror, but also an incredible cascade of funny stories. Characters from portraits, banknotes and school textbook pages can also be characters in a comedy. Yes, even Stalin and Ivan the Terrible!
At the same time, laughing at ourselves, and especially at our own history, is somehow not accepted here. Moreover, the comical inviolability of our history has turned Russia into a state that never laughs. But you remember, right? The enchanted princess will remain unloved until she is made to laugh.

Let’s try to smile – we all need it now”
