Varvara Shmykova | Screening of Short Films and Conversation with the Audience

📆 Wednesday 18 March 2026, 19:00 - 21:00

📍 EZHEVIKA Fashion Store, Warsaw

Varvara Shmykova is a theater and film actress who has worked with directors such as Andrey Zvyagintsev, Kirill Serebrennikov, and other notable contemporary cinema and theater creators. This evening is an opportunity to meet Varvara in a small circle and talk about a profession and life that are almost impossible to separate in an actor's career. About theater and cinema, working with great directors, and how an artist's path is built—with its successes and failures. About moving and starting a new life in another country. About how roles change when a family and children appear, and how it's possible to balance life and profession.

The conversation will be prompted by two short films featuring Varvara.

The first film, "Varya," directed by Nika Gorbushina, is a short drama that received a special jury diploma at Kinotavr. It is a tense story of a young woman trying to assert her right to make her own choices and gradually finding herself in a very personal and painful conversation with loved ones.

The second film, "Inflatable Bear, Hourly," directed by Elizabeth Verkhoshin, is an ironic and slightly absurd story set in Berlin. The film was shown at international festivals and received several awards.

After the screening, there will be a conversation with Varvara Shmykova and questions from the audience. The meeting will take place in a small circle to ensure the conversation is lively, free, and truly intimate.

The event is organized by AEvent—we bring people together around art and create an environment for honest dialogue. A small buffet will be available to maintain the atmosphere for guests.
