Performance-project "Frau. Rehearsal"
Olga Romanova, Dima Zicer, Arthur Solomonov
A brutally honest documentary performance
Journalist Olga Romanova and director Dima Zicer are in Warsaw with a play that explores personal and national responsibility through the real testimony of a German woman who once supported Hitler and only after the war realized the whole truth.
But it's not just their story. Romanova, whose life is intimately tied to the country's turbulent history, faces troubling parallels between the past and the present.
In 2013, journalist and playwright Artur Solomonov persuaded the then very elderly Berlin resident to give a candid interview. Her story became the starting point for a play by director (and also teacher, writer, blogger, radio host) Dima Zitzer .
"How did we allow a dictator to start a war?"
"Where was the point of no return?"
“And aren’t we all involved, each in our own way?”
No safe distance. No hiding behind history.
"Frau. Rehearsal" is a mirror into which everyone must look.
